dc.descriptionThis policy brief has been prepared as input for the XXIV Meeting of the Forum of Ministers of the Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), to be held in Lima, Peru, in September 2025. It summarizes six key messages to guide urgent action by decision-makers in Latin America and the Caribbean. The region faces a turning point: the loss of ecosystems, the deterioration of water services, and the increase in extreme events are generating growing social and economic costs, especially in rural, indigenous, and coastal communities. However, this critical context also opens up opportunities to transform the development model toward a more just and sustainable one through structural reforms and nature-based solutions.
