Mediation is a mechanism for access to justice implemented in the city of Bogotá since the 1990s through access to justice policies, with the aim of contributing to the reduction of personal injuries and affect the security of the city. Twenty years after its implementation, this document aims to identify the efficiency of mediation and its outcome in the occurrence of injuries during 2018 and 2019 in Bogotá. The research demonstrates the implementation of mediation through the Mediation and Conciliation Units, has several difficulties with regard to efficiency and represents a negligible impact on the security of the city. First, the background and context of the UMC teams will be identified, as well as the context of security, coexistence and conflict resolution of the city. La mediación es un mecanismo de acceso a la justicia implementado en la ciudad de Bogotá desde los años 90 desde las políticas de acceso a la justicia, con el fin de aportar a la reducción de lesiones personales que afectan la seguridad de la ciudad. A veinte años de su implementación, el presente documento, tiene como fin identificar la eficiencia de la mediación y su resultado en la ocurrencia de lesiones durante el 2018 y 2019 para la ciudad de Bogotá. La investigación demuestra la implementación de mediación a través de las Unidades de Mediación y Conciliación, tiene varias dificultades con respecto a la eficiencia y representa un impacto insignificante en la seguridad de la ciudad.
